SS304 Pipe
SS304 pipe is the most widely used and consumed type of austenitic stainless steel pipe. It has become a representative of "general-purpose" stainless steel due to its excellent comprehensive performance. The main characteristics and performance of SS304 pipe:
1. The main component, chromium provides basic corrosion resistance, nickel enhances its corrosion resistance, toughness and ductility in various environments (especially non-oxidizing acids), and the low carbon content helps to reduce carbide precipitation during the welding process.
2. Corrosion resistance: It has excellent corrosion resistance in mild atmospheric environments, fresh water, many food media, organic chemicals, and oxidizing acids (such as nitric acid). Its corrosion resistance mainly stems from the dense chromium oxide passivation film formed on the surface.
3. Mechanical properties: It features medium strength, good ductility and toughness, and is easy to process and form.
4. Non-magnetic, the austenite structure makes it basically non-magnetic in the solid solution state.
5. Weldability: It has good welding performance and usually does not require post-weld heat treatment. However, for thick-walled pipes or harsh corrosive environments, it is recommended to use the low-carbon version of 304L to minimize the risk of intergranular corrosion in the heat-affected zone during welding.
6. It has good heat resistance and oxidation resistance, and can operate at intermittent temperatures up to 870°C and continuous temperatures up to 925°C. However, long-term exposure to the temperature range of 400-850°C may lead to the precipitation (sensitization) of carbides, reducing the resistance to intergranular corrosion and limiting its high-temperature strength.
The execution standard of SS304 pipe is ASTM A312/A269/A213. SS304 pipe has become one of the most widely used stainless steel pipes due to its excellent corrosion resistance, formability, weldability and relatively economical cost. It is highly suitable for numerous fields such as food, construction, light industry and general chemical engineering. However, in environments with high chloride ion content (such as seawater or salt spray) or strong reducing acids, its corrosion resistance will significantly decline. At this time, the use of more corrosion-resistant 316L stainless steel pipes should be considered. For thick-walled components that cannot undergo solution treatment after welding or in harsh environments, 304L should also be given priority.
Our feature is that any outer diameter and wall thickness can be customized.
