Sanitary Stainless Steel Tubing
Sanitary stainless steel pipes are special pipes used in industries with high cleanliness requirements such as food, pharmaceuticals, and bioengineering. Their core value lies in zero pollution, easy cleaning, and corrosion resistance and sterilization. Core characteristic requirements for sanitary stainless steel pipes:
1. Inner wall roughness Ra≤0.8μm (EP grade ≤0.4μm), to prevent microbial adhesion/residue;
2. Material purity, ultra-low sulfur and phosphorus (S/P≤0.02%), reducing ion precipitation and pollution of the medium;
3. Integrity of the passivation layer, 100% blue dot test qualified, ensuring uniform and dense chromium oxide film;
4. Connection method: Automatic argon arc welding/quick-install clamps, eliminating dead corners (slope > 0.5%).
Key instructions for sanitary stainless steel pipes:
1. EP pipes, electrolytic ally polished Ra < 0.4μm, used for injection water/vaccine pipelines;
2. BA pipes, bright annealed with Ra < 0.8μm, are used for dairy/beverage pipes.
Hygienic stainless steel pipe industry application standards:
Mandatory standard ASME BPE-2022 for the pharmaceutical industry, 3-A SSI 03-12 for the food industry, ISO 13408-1 for the bioengineering industry, SEMI F019 for the semiconductor industry.

Q: What are the differences between 304 stainless steel and 316 stainless steel?
A: 304 stainless steel contains 18% chromium and 8% nickel, while 316 stainless steel contains 16% chromium, 10% nickel and 2% molybdenum. Due to the addition of molybdenum, 316 stainless steel has better corrosion resistance and high-temperature resistance. 304 stainless steel is suitable for use in general environments, but in some highly corrosive environments, such as seawater and chloride environments, its corrosion resistance is inferior to that of 316 stainless steel.
Q: How many types of stainless steel are there?
A: Stainless steel is classified into five major types, namely austenitic, martensitic, ferritic, duplex steel and precipitation-hardening type.
